The Dragonfyre Legendes of Holly and Mistletoe, Bay Laurel, Ivy and Oak...and The Yulelog...
Explanation....
(this work is not to be
considered a scientific fact sheet as in order to make a point of story
the facts may not be exactly correct in the wild state)
In this religion and its basic awareness we like to represent some of
the previous factors of knowledge pertaining to the subject at hand as
well as listing, relevant to our own cause of the religion, some of the
references to the old stories...any study in detail of course will have
to follow thru on an internet information course or a trip to the
library or such endeavor to find the huge fund of information
concerning any of our legendes based on the world's previous knowledge.
These several plants studied here have been sacred to many ancient and
old clans tribes and civilizations from all over the world and at
various times of human existence.
In our religion we tend to rely on logical explanation as well as
respecting the allusion to fantasy...in this case of plants especially
the highly prized and valuable of everyday life..we look for the
obvious logical meaning and the hope that the logic sticks uniformly
throughout the plant world...of course proven method thru human medical
or scholarly knowledge use is the real token of success and the fact
that man values and prizes those most important common and precious
helpers from the plant world into his everyday common life in an
affordable way. After all if the highly prized value in the plant world
cannot protect and help all the world how can common disease and bad
health conditions be removed. ..in this enlightened day and age even
the intelligent rich powerful and influential know that they do not
inhabit the world alone and if others not so rich influential or
powerful can be commonly healthy ...then they will fare better than if
they try to seclude themselves to a selective group amongst their
powers and wealth. We always hope for a humanitarian powerful
selective amongst the human fortunate in certain ways who can
control and sway some of the destiny of the masses but if not, at least
we have this knowledge which is very important logically to even an
otherwise possibly uncaring mind or minds.
Now that we may have solved the crisis of more than detachment in a
powerful small group within the masses perhaps we can pay attention to
the legendes as The Dragonfyre sees them.
How we see The Legendes >>>
The romance of plant lore
>> the romance of the holly, mistletoe,
bay laurel, ivy and oak >> is in the appearance, beauty, and
ornamental uses only except for the bay laurel which can be used
sparingly in foodswhile cooking then removed before eating. The
Dragonfyre sight sees the other plants as beautiful and recommended for
only growing purposes of outdoor decoration and creating certain
atmospheres of certain health and warding and attracting by aspect of
physical plant virtue of scent fragrance odor...and plant hormonal
influence and inference to the instincts and supernal knowledge of
animal human and other plants possibly helping to create atmospheres of
pooling of concentrated kinds that attract or repel elements of nature
that are beneficial and/or harmful or destructive. Also indoor
decorative use of these plants helps create a nicer and more welcoming
space to live in and with the exchange of atmospheric gases and
chemicals as is also in outside growing, one maintains a healthier
indoor environment. All these plants in our estimation should be kept
away from foods or food areas except or bay which is not poisonous
however we believe that these as artificial plants can benefit the
mental atmospheres as a reminder of the peace and comfort the real
plants hold in our lives and the promise that greenery has for the
nature lover ...that nature is always there to rest within the beauty
of and the experience of the health of the natural environments of the
planet.
Long accepted traditions and
herbal health significance are not always accepted by us as standards
waft and wave through time's lengthy frame used by man to manifest his
changing and acceptable methods of various kinds.
Here then is our frame on
this everchanging group which has been listed elsewhere in the societal
records as healthy or poisonous or medicinal or safe or unsafe or
doctor's use only or common use either way (internal and external).
holly - poisonous, used growing and also trimmings decorative and away from foods...protection and ward off evil..
it's leaves are yearround
green and growing thereby it symbolized eternal presence of nature and
its thereby eternal power amongst the several types of
elements upon the planetary plains. Its berries manifest in the
winter as their show of bright red symbolizes primal color beginnings
and maintenance as well as the promise of life amongst the
severities of winter and thusly the knowledge that spring has
arrived yearly before and so it should this year by all
continuing signs.
mistletoe...
altho used somewhat in
some fields of the medicinal, mistletoe to us is a dangerous plant to
use in medicinal ways. We believe its use to be more of the atmospheric
type and that its constituents help attract and ward off according to
the instinctive use of the friend or enemy senses of protective
instinct. It is believed to be beneficial promoting an atmosphere of
healing and calming.
As holly, we believe it should be kept away from foods and no pretenses
concerning the human emotions forced upon its presence or forced on any
human within its vicinity. The age-old concept of kissing near the
mistletoe was probably an insult to the protective mistletoe brought
about by perverse manipulators who would disrespect and defile anything
of worth they could find to do so.
ivy...
is
a warding against sottery and a stabilizer of sober means however we
believe it may be risky to ingest tho there are manuals I have read
which state it is safe to do so...if it is safe, we cannot see our own
way to continual consumption...we believe that to have it growing is a
sight of refreshment and possibly creates an environment of atmospheres
sights and sounds which feed the senses in a way that precludes the
constancy of sotting and destabilizing by 'tricky means'.
laurel (bay )...
bay laurel is a tree. Since ancient times this is reputed to have some
medicinal values and was reputed to have been used to ward off the
plagues. Commonly it is known to have value within stews and soups as
long as the leaf is removed before eating. It is not easily chewable
anyway and recommends of its own physical state that it not be included
in the foods consumption. Reputed to help the digestive faculties with
rich foods such as meats my belief is that it tends to some helping
amongst the possibilities that may exist alongside all consumptionable
foods that must be cooked (or should be) that we as humans can only
hope to avoid even with the most careful of methods and techniques.
oak...
the oak tree has long been a sacred tree amongst ancient civilizations
and the acorn and fruit has been consumed tho in later times there were
found to be problems that might have built from the constant use of
such nourishment. The oak tree grows slow lives long and grows tall.
..it is reputed to protect from lightning and it harbors and shelters
the mistletoe which is parasitic and needs a host that it does not kill
in order to prosper and stay alive.
Summation:
All of these members of the
plant kingdom signify aspects of nature the wise have respected and
revered being intelligently afraid of these warning symbols whilst
using them as friend possibly against early foes.
As with all things good, that
which culminates in virtues can be broken in part and used wrongly
thusly causing destruction. In many cases the virtues or goodnesses of
a plant are only parts of which are surrounded by the complete being
which may be harmful in certain parts or used as a whole.
Once more we mention here
that a plant is subject in the human world to the legends stories tales
and manipulations by those humans and groups wishing to extoll it as
their own and those who may wish to change its story inherent to their
own advantage and manoeuvred entrapment.
Variation and variety however
do make of the world an interesting place and we have no desire to
remove the ancient or even modern stories from the world. In fact we
believe that knowing is to be aware, forewarned in many cases and
knowledgeable so that personally worthy choices may be made by those
seeking to instate their own individuality.
The Natural...
In this religion the
natural of nature is recognized by its natural state and the endowing
by virtue of its natural state upon its environment and that which is
in it temporarily or permanently (which may not be a natural state of
its normal environment).
We believe that in ingesting internally or using harsh or viciously
wild plants or fruits on the skin externally we are in danger if not
death slow or fast.
Even though they may be beautiful and help in other ways in the
environment we believe that they may cut the life of the disease but
also cut the life or mind energies and structure of the diseased. Only
the user would know if the trade-off was worth it. I don't think it is.
The Dragonfyre Winter Legend of The Holly, The Mistletoe, The Ivy, The Bay Laurel and The Oak.
Legende 1...
The
forest was covered with snow. Noone was there only the elements and the
plants, the ground and time. Life was holly, mistletoe, ivy, bay laurel
and oak.
Holly eternal was bringing to manifestation the red of her berries
maintaining the green of his leaves. All year the holly plant grew
green leaves then the berries arrived in winter amongst the colder
harsher climes, a reminder of the inevitable approach of spring and the oncoming process of the seasons on the planet.
Mistletoe was not independent as was holly even though holly itself
needed male and female to blossom through its course. Mistletoe must
grow where other plants could host it or it would not live. It had its
virtues of promoting a beneficent and peaceful environment but it
needed a strong host to carry it in the first place or those qualities
could not be prospered alone. Here it grew upon the strength of the oak
which did not die in carrying it as other species might have.
Growing up to 60 feet high the oak trees gathered nutrition from a
depth possibly near equivalent to their height in necessity of their
function. Beautiful their leaves as many others they were unusually
shaped as fingered structures and they seasonally put forth acorns and
fruit though not for all to consume.
The ivy grew rampant in places. Where berries grew and fell in lost
abundance ignored in nature's natural bounty...its dark depths of scent
ringing its tone through the air it lived in made the corresponding
fermenting fragrance of the rotting decomposing berries fit into a more
sedate atmosphere. An antidote to sotten drunkenness? Perhaps. A natural correspondence of nature? More likely.
Somewhere in this forest a bay laurel tree grew tall with some young
nearby. The forest stayed healthy. All these factors added up to that.
there could have been many different types of plants here but in this
case there were only these few types and this is what they did. The
interaction made for a natural health of the environment. The
interrelation bred a form of interwoven and interworking aspects that
lived together in harmony in a forest of one natural type.
Here Nature's Winter Legend of the red berry holly, the mistletoe, the
ivy, the bay laurel and the oak tree had arisen to grow together
towards the coming spring and the instinctive knowledge that survival
depended on growing together in harmony and strength.
The Dragonfyre Winter Legend of The Holly, The Mistletoe, The Ivy, The Bay Laurel, The Oak ...and The Yulelog on The Hearth
Legende 2...
Winter
was here with all its cold and snow and frozen ice forests and ever
yielding landscapes to its frosty command. All life of nature that
required contact with severe cold or frost or to hibernate or hide
itself and rest for almost one half a year every year experienced
this yearly or it did not live or it did not live its full life span at
least.
The reminders of a near past and a coming future were all around.
Berries and inherent winter blossoms though few, reminded of a fact of
life that winter and its denizens knew every year. If they survived
...spring would come. At first winter was nice...if you were prepared,
it was a beautiful season and an interesting change of many kinds.
Caution was required and had to be adapted to in new ways according to
the new season but here was where instincts and logical commonsense reigned supreme.
At the height of winter the red holly berries were manifest and festive
against the shiny green of the leaves and decorated by the snowy white
beauty of the elements.
Mistletoe hung amongst the boughs of the oak trees a reminder of
peaceful conditions and harmonies rather than the disrespect of wanton
touching and foolish gestures learned and taught by human habit.
Near the oaks the bay laurels flourished adding a scent of health and medicinal help to the atmospheres.
In places the ivy grew where other plants could not and furnished a sober air rendering drunkenness a final end.
The yulelog would come from here in this thick forest. From a section
that had been devotedly planted nourished and tended to and only at a
certain age of usefulness would the yulelog be taken for the family's
use for the midwinter season of extreme cold and little light.
White Wolf the city elder perused the scene. They had finally come to
know and learn the entireties of the environment. He knew if it was not
tended to properly there would be no environment and no humankind.
He
knew the signs of winter. The signs of the harshest time of year. He
knew what the promise meant each year, the promise of nature. He knew
amongst the others the responsibility of all the factors of the plant
life and their legendary life andhe knew that this winter they would
all make it. All those in the care of the elders and all those plants
in the forest that ensured the health of that environment. Sighing in
wonder of the beauty, White Wolf turned himself around before dark and
headed back to the town to pass the knowledge of the winter state and
its promise on to the other elders who would then pass it on in all its
beauty to the people waiting and wanting to know.
The Legend of Old Wolf and The Berry Forest...
Legend 3...
The landscape was a bare
white snow and the plains might have been affordable for the animals
today if the cover was not too cold. Many would not pass over to the
new forest but stay in the cover of the old til spring returned. Some
had gone into hibernation but many species did not do that.
Old olf felt his instincts
rise in the cold of early morning he knew he must get his pack to new
ground. All the foods were sparse and he sensed that a sojourn to the
new forest would be not something that all the animals would chance.
Game to be utilized for life
was likely to be there and his last routing out amongst his pack had
shown him the seeds of a healthy group. He had kept only the two long
lasting friends and constant supporters and their mates and his own
singular beauty of a mate that had been with him for years. Several of
the young were still here a mix of males and females but more had left
to form their own packs. They did not have the experience and lengthy
gathered knowledge that Old Wolf had.
He knew this morning that if
they did not leave while the snow was here and packed and firm on the
wide plains that they might lose some of the pack or at least suffer
from enemy fighting and loss of health that would linger throughout the
existence of his clan. He nudged the others and ran out on the plains
the two leader helpers following him to assure the others of
intelligent following and survival behavior. He ran back rested and
waited. After he did this several times he lay down back with the
younger pups and nudged them repeatedly lying on the ground beside
them. They of course wanted to play but eventually they grew tired of
him and moved on over to the other leaders who were organizing the
group playing and serious out on the edge of the plains.
The older worked the younger into the centre as Old Wolf got up and
galloped out onto the open ground jumping through the snow and hurling
himself forward in a fetish of angry passionate emotion. He was showing
them how to overcome the condition. He and one of the others ran around
the group as this one would all the way there. A crazy wild display of
management that said we will because we have little choice. Old Wolf
felt that to fight to keep useless dying food territory was a limitless
task that ended in loss of an unrecuperable kind. And so on they moved
across the interminable plains of white and cold hard snow. During
summer this was either a muddy morass after rain or a barren space too
hot to afford any length of time in. Now was the time to make the move.
It would take only one day on the snow if they rested short but in
other times mud or no water made it impossible.
Slowly then fast slowly then fast Old Wolf moved his tribe pack across
the snowy ground. Resting then trudge then gallop then glide Old Wolf
tracked treasured moved goaded encouraged and helped across to the
other side.
Finally the light was almost gone and they were there. First found were
the wild berries and then he knew he had done the right thing. They
were everywhere in abundance. Eating their fill the pack wended its way
in amongst the vining bushes through the openings and into the new
forest. Everything was right. Old Wolf could smell the forest smells,
there was little snow inside under the thick tall trees, the ground was
warm and there were lots of berry bushes and other things like roots
that could be dug up and edible twigs where the light shone through in
patches from above. The pack settled down to sleep for the night with
watch looking out. Tomorrow they would reconnoitre their new home.
There was plenty of food now so there would be no fighting amongst the
group. More than likely being young those at the old forest would stay
there and try to make it through til spring then head out farther into
the old forest and try to survive. This was a young but vigorous forest
Old Wolf had brought his to. He thought they would make it. As a leader
he felt his decision was right. Only time and living would tell. Old
Wolf knew that. He settled down for the dark night in the knowledge
that he had succeeded in bringing his pack to safety and a peaceful
future. Old Wolf slept.
